Hendrik D. Gideonse writes a lovely collection of easy to read (and understand) poems that touch on commonplace themes such as love, loss and nature. He even includes humor, in one of my favorite poems, Signals. I also thoroughly enjoyed the poem Pancake for its truth in how life and belief systems can change; his poem In Praise of Small Packages, because we all know someone like Eliot Coleman; his poem An Electric Blanket Gone South, because who hasn't experienced love's flame diminshing. There are many many more of his poems that are terrific, and as a collection the book portrays a man I would like to know. I also found the boxed introductions to each poem quite valueable...great format.Product details
